As of 1st September 2026, Our practice will no longer provides general “To Whom It May Concern” (TWIMC) letters for insurance, financial, legal, housing, employment, travel, educational purposes (including schools, colleges and universities), or any other third-party requests.
Requests for medical evidence, confirmation of health conditions, extenuating circumstances, fitness to study, examination adjustments, travel cancellations, housing applications, benefits, employment purposes, insurance matters, or similar third-party requirements are not part of NHS-funded primary care services and therefore fall outside the essential services GP practices are contracted to provide.
These requests require a clinician to review the medical record, assess the information requested, and prepare an appropriate response. As such, they are classed as private, non-NHS work and would normally attract a fee.
