How Do I... Make An Appointment?

Routine booked appointments can be made up to a month in advance by telephone, on-line, or by calling at the reception desk during surgery opening hours. Please telephone after 11.00am to enable us to deal with emergency calls first. We would encourage you to see your usual doctor whenever possible. You can register for our on-line services which enable you to book routine appointments via the internet. This requires a PIN number, which is available on request from the reception desk.

Routine appointments are for 10 minutes and are for ONE patient only. Kindly keep to one problem per appointment and do not ask the doctor about other family members within the same appointment. A separate appointment is required for each individual needing advice.

This reduces waiting times for other patients. You should let us know if you are unable to attend or do not need a booked appointment, as we may be able to offer the appointment to another patient.

Same Day (Urgent) Appointments

Monday to Friday 9.00am - 12.00pm

Same day appointments are for urgent medical problems only that cannot wait for the next available appointment. Please do not ask the doctor to complete forms or deal with non-urgent matters during these appointments as it causes delay for others. These appointments will be booked with the first available doctor. You can book an appointment if you telephone before 11.00am. You will be given an approximate appointment time. This will be the earliest time you are likely to be seen but please note that you may have to wait past this time if there are high numbers of patients needing urgent attention. If you think you may be highly infectious eg chickenpox, please advise reception and you will be placed in separate room.

Specimen pots for urinary tract infections are kept at reception , do request them prior to seeing your doctor or nurse. If an emergency arises at any other time, please telephone the surgery. During surgery hours the reception staff will take a message for the duty doctor who deals with all urgent problems to call you back as soon as possible. Please give a landline number if possible.

How Do I... Obtain A Home Visit?

We ask patients to come to the surgery as much as possible where an assessement can be made in better equipped surroundings. If patients are too ill and a home visit is medically essential we would be grateful if you could phone before 10.30am.

The receptionist may ask for details of your problem in order to assist the doctor.

The doctor will call to assess that a visit is appropriate, he will then attended to cases according to urgency.

How Do I... Obtain Test Results?

You should allow seven days from the date of your blood test for the surgery to receive your results. Other tests such as x-rays may take between 14 - 21 days to be reported by the hospitals. Either book a follow up appointment with the doctor or nurse who arranged the test, or call the surgery and the doctor or nurse will call you back to discuss the results. The reception staff will ask you to confirm the type of test and date it was taken. If you would like to discuss things further then you can book a telephone appointment with the requesting doctor or nurse to explain it to you. Reception staff are not able to give clinical information to patients.
